The Chosen One is the first in a series of epic fantasy novels by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, published between 1981-1987. The story follows five children who are prophesied to defeat an evil wizard known as Darken Rahl during their lifetime. The novel has been adapted into two television miniseries with one released in 1991.

The “the chosen one stories” is a story that has been told and re-told for generations. The story follows the journey of a hero who must find the chosen one.

‘The Wheel of Time’ is an interesting Amazon attempt to adapt Robert Jordan’s massive book series, yet it’s hampered by its tedious source material and attempts to link itself with HBO’s mega-hit series ‘Game of Thrones.’

Rosamund Pike, Daniel Henney, Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Barney Harris, Madeleine Madden, and Zoe Robins feature in ‘The Wheel of Time,’ which will be available to watch on Amazon Prime Video beginning November 19th.

To begin with, the source material is a compilation of 14 books and a prologue written over the course of thirty years, with Brandon Sanderson filling in for Jordan after his death in 2007.

There are almost 2,000 characters in the whole series, so showrunner Rafe Judkins has his work cut out for him in adapting everything for the screen.

The setting distinguishes this program from previous fantasy stories such as the ‘Lord of the Rings’ series.

Thousands of years before the start of the series, magic was corrupted, tainting the source of power to the point that any man who attempted to use it would go insane.

Women, on the other hand, were exempt from this fate, resulting in the Aes Sedai, a group of strong female sorcerers who transcended both sorcery and political boundaries.

The universe of ‘The Wheel of Time’ is a vicious spiral in which individuals are reincarnated at different ages. This reincarnation includes the Dragon, who also happened to be the one who corrupted magic in the first place.

In this series, they must either destroy the world as we know it or preserve it from the Dark One, the series’ antagonist.

This series seeks to ease viewers into this spectrum by simplifying some of the more arcane terms and ideas, as well as expanding the little intricacies of how the world and the magic in it function over time.

According to the studio, the program will be accompanied by animated shorts that will assist explain the backstory and history.

When the story first begins, it relies heavily on standard fantasy clichés. One of the Aes Sedai, Moiraine, portrayed by Rosamund Pike, is attempting to locate the Dragon mentioned in the prophesies in order to guide them down their predestined path.

Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings have a lot in common.

Follow the trail to a village deep in the mountains called the Two Rivers with her outstanding bodyguard Lan Mandragoran, played by Daniel Henney, and selects five young people who have the potential to fulfill the prophesy.

The candidates are as different as they come. Rand, a shepherd kid, is portrayed by Josha Stradowski; Perrin, a blacksmith, is played by Marcus Rutherford; Mat, a gambling thief, is played by Barney Harris; Egwene, the daughter of the local innkeeper, is played by Madeleine Madden; and Nynaeve, the town healer, is played by Zoe Robins.

Judkins made a few significant changes to make the adaption more realistic and up to date. In comparison to Jordan’s rendition of his characters, the group is significantly more varied in age.

Despite the fact that Rand, Perrin, and Mat get the most of the attention in the novels, Egwene and Nynaeve are given more prominent roles.

Other notable changes include one male character who is paired with a spouse who was created entirely from scratch for the series solely for the purpose of fringing her in the first episode so that he can have something to be sad about for the rest of the season, which doesn’t seem particularly thoughtful.

Season one spends the most of its time establishing the show’s basic mystery, namely, who of the five main protagonists will be the famed Dragon Reborn, capable of wielding enormous power and having the bravery to face the presumed fearsome Dark One.

This seems like an unusual approach, given how simple it is to figure out the problem unless the series has intentions to expand considerably beyond the initial six episodes that have already been aired.

One can’t help but compare Pike’s role to Dumbledore in the ‘Harry Porter’ films in terms of screen time and attention. She is the series’ major protagonist, which isn’t necessarily a negative thing considering that the actress is one of the cast’s most known members and one of the show’s greatest portions, but it does make her stand out.

The presentation is visually stunning, with stunning pictures showing the Czech Republic’s stunning terrain and landscapes. The clothes are stunning, and the sets seem to be just stunning.

The fundamental spectacle of this series, which is the channeling of magical force from the world via blasts of fire or bursts of air, is hit or miss for the program.

These graphics may be fascinating in some cases, but in others, they merely seem to be a routine process with individuals standing among white wisps of smoke.

The ‘Game of Thrones’ influence, on the other hand, is rather strong, with graphic sexual scenes, blood, and gore tossed in for good measure, but it’s nothing compared to the first.

Unfortunately, while telling a completely different narrative, this series spends much too much time attempting to imitate ‘Game of Thrones.’

While ‘Game of Thrones’ concentrated on the darker world, personalities, and intrigues to gain power, this drama lacks games and even a throne; instead, the main danger is the Dark One, who is served by an army of mindless hideous trollocs that actually feast on humans.

‘The Wheel of Time,’ in contrast to the novels, is more darker, having removed practically all of the joy and comedy in an attempt to be more adult, to its cost.

The director has envisioned an incredible eight seasons for the entire collection, and the second leg has already been given the green light. ‘The Wheel of Time’ does have its flaws considering the volume of the source material, which also happens to work in its favor because the director has envisioned an incredible eight seasons for the entire collection, which also happens to work in its favor because the second leg has already been given the green light.

It’s a fun program to watch, but owing to the graphic sexual scenes, it’s not recommended for children under the age of 18.
